As Awaken Communications approaches our fourth Christmas (where has the time gone?), we thought we’d hand out our inaugural set of random awards for stuff we thought was cool in the year just gone. In no particular order…
Favourite piece of marketing
Apart from the great work we did…it has to be the Timpson’s A board, on the pavement in front of the store, offering a free suit dry clean for anyone unemployed and going for an interview. Magic.
Just been reading Be Brilliant Everyday written by the two Andys. It’s…well….brilliant. If you want to get your mojo back in 2016, put it on your Christmas list. Don’t let the fact that my wife says she hasn’t noticed any difference since I read the book put you off. I’ll get there in the end…..
Oh…and I love all three of my wonderful wife’s romantic fiction novels – mainly because the royalty cheques have started to land. For all those hopeless romantics in you: www.juleswake.co.uk. Okay, I haven’t read them myself (guy pursuing girl in Vintage Ferrari across Italy does not constitute a car chase darling)….but they are getting 5* reviews on Amazon!!
All of them. Especially the ones who pay on time. Thank you Airkix, World of Golf, Adventure Golf, Maindec, Champneys, Wembley Stadium, Oakman Inns, First Ascent, The Great Escape, Pulse Accounting, Quest and anyone else I’ve forgotten to mention. We love you more than words can say (and so do my children…especially at Christmas).
On a sombre note, Christmas is a lonely time for many and the commercialism and waste can get a bit out of hand. And yes, I guess those of us working in marketing have to take some responsibility for that (but not necessarily the best ones like us). Working at a Crisis shelter (thoroughly recommended) puts it all into perspective and so this cause has become the one we like to support at Christmas.
The one accepted by the client first time (naturally).
“Everything I touch turns to sold” – Trevor Haines, Group Sales Manager at Airkix. Bless him.
“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.” Carl Jung.
Yes, we can be deep and meaningful too…..
Favourite Christmas joke
As a little girl climbed onto Santa’s lap, Santa asked the usual, “And what would you like for Christmas?” The child stared at him open mouthed and horrified for a minute, then gasped, “Didn’t you get my Snapchat?”
The Force Awakens. Not seen it yet, but there must be some way we can ride on the back of that name? Does it get any better than this? Awaken the Force in your marketing in 2016
Oh dear. Let’s hope so. On that note….a huge thank you to Tim, Julie, Jon, Matt and Neil – who make Awaken Communications possible. We wish all our clients, partners, friends and supporters, a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
May the Force be with you in 2016 (….couldn’t resist it).
